He took it all in stride, laying down and going to sleep without even a whimper. Me, I had to put earplugs in: I had to get some good sleep. Yesterday getting ready to go on our morning walk Reginald took off before the leash was on. He jumped right out the window and took off. There is a window in my storm door, it’s about 18” above floor level, and one certain Beethoven destroyed the screen in it decades ago. I never fixed it, because my hounds have never been jumpers. Well, Reginald didn’t get that memo, apparently. So I rushed out, without my leash (bad mistake), and caught up with him. He didn’t run, but didn’t want to come straight home either. So I got ahold of his harness and walked him home, hunched over all the way. Then during our walk he and Dexter were l worked up and were jerking me in many different directions at once. Ultimately I ended up with severe back pain all day. I’m feeling much better this morning, but it’s almost time to go for another walk!

Yesterday Reginald achieved a minor milestone. For the first time ever, he responded correctly to an “Off” command. And he’s again this morning, although I did have to say it three times. He’ll learn all this new stuff and be quite the gentleman very soon!

Tim ‘n Puppies
