My Abe has a history of infected anal glands. I take him pretty regularly to have them expressed. Last week his butt was looking kinda juicy so I figured they were infected again so made an appointment with the vet and not the tech. They were not infected according to the vet. On the follow up call I said his but was still looking nasty so the main vet of the practice called to follow up and said we could try infusing his anal glands with antibiotics every other day (as we have done before) I said but there is no infection. His other suggestion was anal gland removal. The back story is that I don't feel comfortable going there, I feel like they are just money grabbers. I used to love the vet there but she left the practice and I just have never really jelled with the other vets there. I spend about 6,000 thousand dollars a year there with two fairly healthy dogs who are both on special food from the vet. I am sometimes amazed at the prices others quote for their vet procedures. I am in St. Louis, MO I spent about 1,500 on a dental for one and was quoted 3,300 for the others dental. Spent 1,600 each on cyst removal and bladder stone removal(the same dog) Not that I won't spend the money on them and they are worth every penny. I just feel like they know these are my babies and I will do anything for them and it's just a money grab. I am very frustrated. Any advice would be appreciated.

Melissa

Abe & Buster
