<div dir="ltr">10 years ago today, I fell in love! It's Janie Anne's 10th Gotch' Day!!<br>I met a Basset Hound named Dorothy or Dot (she has a large dot on her forehead) whom I had discovered on Petfinders. I drove 5 hours to meet her and to both of us it wasn't love at first sight.<br>She wasn't what I had really expected, she is a red and white and I was only familiar with the tri-colors. <br>As the rescue person was opening the crate Dot was in, an AMTRACK train ran by and Dot was off to the races. Don't let anyone every tell you Bassets are slow, Dot was gone in a flash! We finally corralled her about 3 block away and I had gained a lot of respect for this little girl.<br>Dot became Janie Anne right then.<br>Lots of you know our story, Janie has literally saved my life. She has given me a reason to be alive. She led me to find the Dailydrool and all the wonderful Basset lovers around the World. Her being her led me to foster 4 other Bassets, with one Siobhan, being a foster failure.</div><div dir="ltr">Of course everything hasn't been all flowers and great times. Janie had a vestibular event shortly before Christmas last year and I almost lost her. Thankfully our vet, D. Jeri was able to save her and here over 4 months later Janie is with me to celebrate our decade together.</div><div dir="ltr">Sure, Janie is older, greyer, a little slower, her eyesight isn't the greatest. She sometimes forgets to go out to pee, I'm older, greyer, wear bifocals and visit the bathroom lots of times too.</div><div dir="ltr">I don't think her hearing is going, she just doesn't care to listen when she doesn't feel like it, she'll be 14 in August.</div><div dir="ltr">So I want everyone reading this to celebrate our 10 years together and pray that we have a few more happy, healthy years together.</div><div dir="ltr">Also. I don't know who bestows the title of Princess to our wonderful creatures, but in memory of Pw. Penny and Polly in France, I am declaring Janie Anne to now be known as Princess Janie Anne of Colorado and the Rocky Mountains!</div><div dir="ltr">I hope her title will be accepted.</div><div dir="ltr">Our time left together is surly limited, but Pw Janie Anne will be with me forever and someday we will have all eternity to share.</div><div dir="ltr">We wish all the best to our Fellow Bassets and we shed tears whenever one leaves but all of you are in our daily prayers and truly believe that we will all meet again.</div><div dir="ltr">Celebration Woofs to all.</div><div dir="ltr">Princess Janie Anne---"Don't worry Bill, I'll never leave you" </div><div dir="ltr"> PS-----XOXO, Nigel</div><div dir="ltr">Siobhan--- "here I am, chopped liver again!"</div><div dir="ltr">and Bill---more Blessed than I deserve.<br> <br> <br></div>
