Many of you will remember Diana Rothe, mom to Bridge hounds Harry Potter,
Bertie Botts and Daisy Lu Who. I asked a couple of times on this list for cards
to be sent Diana as she battled her breast cancer. Unfortunately, on Sept. 11th,
Diana lost her battle with triple negative breast cancer and aggressive
inflammatory breast cancer. I don?t think I?ve ever known anyone who fought
as hard she did.

Diana was a great supporter of Debbies Dawgs; her family requested donations
in lieu of flowers to Debbies Dawgs, your favorite charity or cancer research.
Debbies Dawgs has received quite a few donations in her memory and that
money will be set aside for a dog bed program for the senior bassets in rescue.
If you?re interested in donating to DDawgs in Diana?s memory, you can Paypal,
using friends and family, to debbiesdawgs2016@gmail.com For those that
donate via Paypal for $5 Friday, this is not the $5 Friday Paypal account. Or
you can send a check made out to Debbies Dawgs, 23 Peppertree Ct.
Marietta GA 30068 Please notate your donation as being in honor of Diana
Rothe.

We will be announcing the details of the dog bed program soon. It will have
Diana?s name attached to it.

If you would like to send a sympathy card to Diana?s husband and daughter
and/or her sister, please email me at dlindy@mac.com and I?ll be happy to
provide info to you.

Diana missed her dogs terribly but I?m sure she?s been reunited with them
and they are running together at the Bridge.

I think a lot of us are at the age where we?re going to be losing our basset
human friends. We?ve lost so many of our favorite basset hounds and those
that have been here a long time remember so many wonderful, personable,
loveable, silly hounds that have been shared with us. How fortunate many of
us have been to be able to meet some of these hounds and their humans, too.
It?s the cycle of life, but it makes me sad. Lots of great hounds AND humans
on this list.
Debbies Dawgs October $5 Friday is, amazingly, October 5th which is next
Friday! Our rescue is Tri-State BHR in NJ. If you are not aware of this
great rescue and its board and volunteers, you need to be. This rescue
helps dogs that are hundreds of miles away - one of their foster homes is
in Alabama! Right now they have over 30 senior forever fosters and several
of those are in hospice care. They could really use our help. If you can
donate, please do. Seniors are an expensive investment but they do not
turn them away, no matter how sick they are.

There are 2 ways to donate to $5 Friday. One is via Paypal. Please be
sure to use the Friends and Family option or Paypal will assume you are
making a purchase and they will charge a fee. You are making a donation,
not buying anything, so Friends and Family is what you want. You have to
really look for it sometimes. The address to send to for Paypal is

debbiesdawgs@icloud.com Please try not to send to our gmail account

as it is used for the general account. If you mess up and do it anyway, it?s
fine - we?ll transfer it but just watch autofill which we all know can be our
friend or make us sound like we are crazy.

If you prefer to send a check, make it out to Debbies Dawgs and send it
to 23 Peppertree Ct. Marietta GA 30068

I would like to thank everyone on this list who has been supporting the
rescues this year. If you?ve never donated, I can promise you it?s a wonderful
thing to know that you are part of helping a rescue pay for surgeries, dentals,
heartworm treatments, medications or whatever they need. It?s the best $5,
$10, $15 or however much you donate that you?ve ever spent.

Rescues we have helped so far this year with $5 Fridays are Carolina BHR, Utah
Friends of Bassets, Basset Rescue Across Texas, Droopy Basset Hound Rescue
of Western PA, Belly Rubs BR, Looziana BR, Suncoast BR as well as 6 smaller
rescues that shared two different $5 Fridays: Ohana BHR, BR of SW Colorado,
Helping Hands BHR, BR of Montana, Basset Rescue of Kentuckiana and The
Hounds of Peaceful Place. We?ve also helped with emergency surgery expenses
for Hounds Haven BHR, BAGS BHR and BR of SW Colorado with $2 Tuesdays.

We?ve supplied the House of Puddles, The Hounds of Peaceful Place and
Tri-State with special needs they had for hounds that have come into their rescue
as well as found over 25 human senior pawtners who send care packages to the
senior hounds in rescue.

And we did all of this because you helped us do it. Come and get on the Debbies
Dawgs train and go across the country with us, helping the rescues with the seniors
that have ended up as strays, have been abandoned in houses, never lived in inside
or had their own bed, have lost their owner or whose owner could not take care of
them. Most of their stories are heartbreaking but these rescues give these dogs a
life they didn?t know even existed.

Thanks for reading and I hope you?ll donate this month for Tri-State and every other
rescue after that.

We are now at day four of Rolph on wheels and I cannot believe the transformation in all our lives.
He can't use them around the house, unfortunately the architecture is completely unsuitable, but out on walks, well, it's like he is years younger.
Every day he crosses a new hurdle. Yesterday, he couldn't quite get up a kerb. Today he happily got up a 6 inch one. On day two I had to help him a bit on a steep hill. Today he got up by himself.
We are back to taking walks in the countryside. Clara is getting a decent walk again, Rolph is so happy it's making my heart burst. And I no longer dread having to leave him howling in the house while I take Clara out, or crocking my back helping him along.
I think I was slightly worried how other people might react to a dog on wheels, but so far it has been 100% positive, with people even stopping their cars to chat about it.
Today, we met a black Lab in a field. Rolph went tearing off to play with him, turning circles and racing.?
Up until last week, I thought the Help Em Up Harness was the best money I'd ever spent. Now I'm a complete dog wheels convert.
Drool to all who need or want it.
Sally, with Rolph and Clara, UK??
