<div dir="ltr">We were lucky with Ginger. She was losing her back end but didn't go completely down before she went to the bridge but she had no control of her bowels for the last two years of her life.
I'm home most of the time but needed a place where she would be semi confined when I went out and she was too big for our crates so we made an apartment for her under a large table I use for quilting and padded it from top to bottom. However, even though I'm home, we had many, many accidents. It got to the point where the house had a permanent poop odor no matter how much cleaning, spraying, or padding we did. There was no way I was going to diaper her. The thought of it being on her fur and next to her skin just really creeped me out. So we just picked up the trails that she left and replaced beds as we needed to until she died last September of something totally unrelated (lung cancer). We never figured out a good answer to fecal incontinence. Suzy has been incontinent of urine since she was a puppy but, as long as I get her out very frequently, we don't have too many leaks. Plus, she's on medication that helps with her leaking but the uncontrolled pooping was a whole different story. I would love to hear it if anyone has a way of minimizing the mess. Ginger was the first time we'd had to deal with that but I'm sure she won't be the last.<div><br></div><div>The hounds are sending heart healing and get well to all in need. I hope the bridge gates close for a while. We've lost way too many beloved low riders lately.</div><div><br></div><div>Jane, Toby & the Houndettes</div><div>Shadow & Suzy</div></div>
