<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div class="">A BARKLE is like a woofle or other names for a raffle when you</div><div class="">can’t really call it a raffle. This BARKLE is named to honor the memory</div><div class="">of Barkley, a senior basset at The Hounds of Peaceful Place, which is a senior</div><div class="">hound rescue and sanctuary in Chesnee SC. This rescue had to start all over </div><div class="">because it had to relocate from its original home in NC due to a tragic event</div><div class="">Involving the property owner where they operating. So another piece of property </div><div class="">was found in SC and while the structure they live in and call home was being built, </div><div class="">the caretaker and dogs (plus a donkey and a couple of goats) lived in a barn on </div><div class="">a friend’s property. Can you imagine? Luckily it did have some indoor plumbing </div><div class="">but definitely not desirable! </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">There’s a reason behind the quilt being raffled. I know many of you</div><div class="">remember Diana Rothe, mom to Harry Potter, Bertie Botts and Daisy</div><div class="">Lu Whu all ATB, who passed away last September after losing her battle</div><div class="">with breast cancer. Some of us sent her cards throughout her journey.</div><div class="">Well, Diana was a quilter and a big supporter of Debbie’s Dawgs. She </div><div class="">loved the senior bassets and what she wanted to do was to make a</div><div class="">quilt for as many basset rescues as she could so they could raffle them</div><div class="">to help raise funds to take care of the seniors. Sadly, Diana did not </div><div class="">get to finish a quilt for a rescue. But she had her family send her quilt </div><div class="">fabrics to Ellie Wright, a quilter and a Drooler on FB and who stayed</div><div class="">in touch with Diana throughout her illness. Ellie has some helpers</div><div class="">and they finished a quilt Diana had been working on and have made</div><div class="">other quilts for some of the rescues. And that’s what this quilt is - a quilt</div><div class="">made from Diana’s fabrics. These quilts are called Diana’s Heaven Sent</div><div class="">Quilts and have a tag on them that says that. It’s another way of letting</div><div class="">Diana continue to help the seniors in rescue that she loved so much.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Tickets for the quilt are called “kisses” (for Barkley, of course) and a $5 </div><div class="">donation gets you one “kiss” and a $25 donation will get you an extra </div><div class="">“kiss” . The BARKLE runs through August 22nd. I have posted pics and </div><div class="">flyer on the BARKLE on Photobucket so anyone who is interested can</div><div class="">see the quilt - it’s really an adorable quilt done in blues with a basset </div><div class="">wearing a hat appliquéd on it. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Here is the link: <a href="http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/dwlindy/library/BARKLE%20FOR%20HOUNDS%20OF%20PEACEFUL%20PLACE" class="">http://s1287.photobucket.com/user/dwlindy/library/BARKLE%20FOR%20HOUNDS%20OF%20PEACEFUL%20PLACE</a></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">It’s a public page and should take you right to the pictures. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Please contact me off list at <a href="mailto:dlindy@mac.com" class="">dlindy@mac.com</a> if you have an interest in the quilt </div><div class="">or in helping this struggling rescue take care of its senior hounds - they were</div><div class="">getting another senior basset today or tomorrow. They also have a couple</div><div class="">of beagles, 3 bloodhounds and a couple of coon hounds. And don’t forget</div><div class="">the donkey and goats! </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">The Hounds of Peaceful Place is a 501c3 charity and has been a recipient</div><div class="">of a $5 Friday along with 2 other smaller rescues. We have also sent</div><div class="">some things they needed to help them out recently. They love all their</div><div class="">seniors and we’d like to help them get established in their community so </div><div class="">bassets in the area have a refuge when needed. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Thanks for reading and do check out the quilt - it’s different!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Donna, drool fueler for Maggie and YaYa</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div style="text-align: right;" class=""><br class=""></div></body></html>
