My rescue, Flynn, came in August, 2019, with constant itching and my regular vet put him on Apoquel, which did the job very well, I must say. It cost around $100/month. He was sadly diagnosed with adrenal cancer (throat tumor) in late May and his oncologist said to take him off of it immediately and to put him Cytopoint (about $120/month). This also helped Flynn a lot. His oncologist also told me that 75% of the dogs she treats for cancer were on Apoquel. She said that she was not making a definite connection between the drug and cancer, but she said there is much discussion amongst her peers about a possible relationship to the drug. The jury is still out, but I am horrified that we could have caused this to happen to Flynn. Just my experience.
