[Secretpawtner] SP - your package is on the way to you!

This afternoon I sent a package by US mail to my SP.  So I thought I would repeat the clues to see if seeing them as a group will help my SP determine who I am!
 
Number 1:  The name of my Secret Pawtner's hound is a word that refers to a privately issued currency from banks in Louisiana that are now highly sought after for their numismatic value.  
 
Number 2:  To my SP's hound:  you were acquired as a puppy but you're now a senior girl.  A road through your town shares your name.  
 
Number 3:  In the 2000 census 1,768 people lived in your town, and surely a nickzillion basset hounds as well....  
 
Number 4:  Lore has it that many many years ago a tremendous meterological event occurred in your state that has been recounted in song.  
 
Number 5:  Your state was the first to declare Christmas a legal holiday. 
 
Number 6:  To my dear, dear SP - your state nut is the pecan.  Perhaps the legislature should rethink this?  Based upon your writings in the Daily Drool, your hound may think there is a better state nut they could select.  
 
Number 7:  Your heart dog's name is similar to the nickname of your state.
 
Number 8:  Your state is famous for the Pelican Girls - twenty-three young women from France (hmmm, wonder if Fifi was involved in this in some way?) who crossed the Atlantic aboard the Pelican. The ladies had been recruited to move to a young settlement, founded in 1702, in order to marry the male settlers and naturally increase the population.   

So SP, if you still can't figure it out don't despair!  In 5 to 7 days the answer will be yours!
