because that would not work.

It was a long time ago, but it was probably a memorable day when you won two raffles that benefitted your favorite rescue.
 
And a new clue, #6:
A helicopter show in your area did not seem to include any by the Connecticut-based firm the dad slave works for. Also in the news, you had a Civil War reenactment, but your state would have been on the other side of ours in that war.
