Dear SP.  Here is another clue to help you identify me.
 
Clue 6-Your town was named after a famous European explorer.  There was also  a car named after that explorer which went out of business in the 60's. 
 
A recap follows:
Clue 1-We have met several times ove  the years.
Clue 2-You live about 420 miles  south of me.
Clue 3-We both have 1 hound and they are of the same sex.
Clue 4-We both live in the same time zone.
Clue 5-Our meetings have been in both Illinois and Michigan.
