[Dailydrool] Jack not a good fit (I feel horrible)

We had our home visit today and I think it went well.   Unfortunately, 
once Jack came for a visit it turned out that my husband and I felt that 
he wasn't a good fit for Howie.  Howie is extremely submissive and Jack 
is not at all (which is good but not).  I feel horrible because he is a 
happy little guy, and I can't explain it, I just  felt this wasn't the 
place for him.  My Howie actually looked so down in the dumps with Jack 
at the house and Howie loves playing with other dogs.  Howie kept trying 
to play but Jack went into instant hump mode (no exaggeration) every 
time.  We had to constantly pull him off to the point I thought he would 
hurt Howie.  Especially since Howie is just recovering from pano.  The 
foster said he never does that with her dogs.  I understand him trying 
to pull his dominance over Howie, but it struck me funny  that he was 
younger and coming into Howie's house and being so dominant.
Everyone may think I'm horrible for not taking him but I have to do what 
is best for Howie and I know Jack is being taken care of by the foster.  
I actually told her she should keep him, since he gets along great with 
her dogs and she has been with her since coming to the rescue.  I know 
she will make sure he goes to a good home and not back to the rescue 
facility (I specifically asked).  If Howie was not here I would take 
him.  I was in tears with this decision and I hope all my rescue 
droolers can understand.  I feel that we will know when the right buddy 
for Howie comes along. 

Howie here:  Jack commed ober to pway wid meese but him doin dat jumpin 
ting on me all da time.  Mom and Dad swave have to keep taking he off 
me, eben jumpin on my head.  He not pway just doing the jumpin ting.  Me 
was tinking that momswave don't want da Howie any mores but den Jack 
goesded home wid his swave and meese feels much bedder.  He no pway wike 
meese odder fends do.  He tookdid all meese tweets and meese food too.
