[Dailydrool] Skunked

Living in the mountains, we have had our share of skunk attacks. We have tried the recipe the Essie suggested, this works well especially if your dog is a lighter color. We have also used the "tried and true" tomato juice (I keep five gallons under the sink) and a shampoo called Smelly Pet.

In my honest opinion nothing works perfectly. I felt the tomato juice took out most of the odor, but Kota was a beautiful shade of red. You will smell skunk every time your dog gets wet for months - get used to it.

After this you will be one of the keenest smellers of skunk. I can smell a skunk 10 miles away - if I do, the dog stays in the house. One would think a dog would learn quickly to avoid black and white stripes after one attack, but mine seemed to be too dumb to remember between attacks.

Good Luck.
