[Dailydrool] Drinking places

Hi Everyone!
I loved all the thoughts on drinking water, and wanted to share what we did this spring.
Inside we have one large heavy flat ceramic dish for drinking water, which we clean and fill often. It sits beside our fridge, and they like the purified water from the door, of course.
Outside, we tore out 3 bushes, where I finally talked my husband into putting in a little decorative pond in that area. He did a lot of research, and it is slightly deeper than most shallow ponds, and covers the width of the area we had available, and is between the end of our turn-around-drive and a privacy fence, and adjacent to our garage. He has running re-cycled water coming from a strawberry pot located in the flower bed which is behind the pond. We have the appropriate water plants, not a lot, to help clean the water along with the sunlight, but we went a step farther and put in an ionizer to purify the water, after one of our babies decided to drink out of it. We top off the pond everyday with fresh water from where it has evaporated and been slurped down by the dogs.
We have had bowls outside, and the type of water dish with the hose that constantly feeds the bowl from a faucet, but birds get in them, insects get in them, and if there is food dropped into them, ants come over the side. Alas, we needed something, but didn't quite know what, until Misty began going to the pond and drinking from it. We didn't think they would drink from it because of the flowing water, but we were very happy they did, so therefore we added the ionizer to purify the water for our babies. No insects are in it, and apparently with the recycling, it stays cool enough.
When we go for our evening walks, they come home and go straight to the pond.
In the morning after they do their business, they go to the pond, but then we really don't want to let them back in right away, because they have emptied and refilled on water...
Just a thought for anyone out there who wants to keep fresh ionized water for their babies that is free of insects, ( we don't see any drool in it either). This is so awesome, and we are glad that we happened onto it. It was a lot of planning and work, and to think it acts as a watering place for our babies, well that is a big plus.
Happy Drools, to you....
