We have had Maggie, our newest addition for a week now. She is a wonderful sweet girl. Maggie is the longest basset we have ever had and also has the biggest head for her body size. She is sleeping on the couch with Marley and Ninja right now.

Maggie loves to play with the other houndettes. They are more active now with her here. Ninja is the cheerleader most of the time for the other two. She is still a little jealous of Maggie and will occasionally snip but it blows over quickly.

Sunny doesn't like Maggie either but leaves her alone for the most part.

Sleeping in a house with four bassets can be tricky. Sunny stays downstairs because she is too creaky to climb the stairs. The other three either sleep with us or Nic. Ninja will sleep on my feet mostly while Marley sleeps under the bed. Sometimes She will come out in the middle of the night and want love. She is our burrower. Likes to be under any blanket or piece of fabric she can find. Maggie is a sweet dog who thinks any space you occupy is hers too. She cannot sit or lay next to anyone. She has to be on them even in the bed. I have more bruises from her climbing on me that I can count. She likes to sleep on our pillows wrapped around a head, usually mine. She does better with Nic because she has more room. There is no such thing as personal space with this girl.

When we got our first basset puppy, Sassy, we fixed her a box with blankets, stuffed toys and a clock all to no avail. After a couple sleepless nights, she ended up in our room in the box. Finally I put her on the bed and she slept by me. She wet the bed which was not very nice to wake up to. All of our bassets have slept with us or the boys. Only when they got too old to jump or climb did they sleep anywhere else.

We send drool and snooters to all those in need.
