[Dailydrool] First day of crating

Some of you may remember my posting of Diva Houdini's adventures before
the summer, and since so many of you very knowledgeable folks suggested
I keep them indoors whenever we're not home, I took your advice and
we've been slowly acclimating the girls throughout the summer. Well,
today is the 2-leggers first day back at school, and my 4-leggers first
day being inside all day in their crates alone. Our middle schooler
leaves the house at about 9 a.m. and the younger two get off the bus
about 3p.m., so the girls will be alone for about 6 hours. I'm
wondering how they will do. So far they have been sleeping through the
night in their little room (it's not really all that little, they have a
huge room with lots of beds, air conditioning, and a baby gate to see
out into the kitchen and out of the window to the yard). When we got up
this morning at 6, they went out and played in the yard and with the
family until 9. I didn't put their food/water in their room with them
because I figured it would just make them need to get out more often,
but should I? Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or tips that
I haven't thought of to make their day a little nicer. One thing is for
sure, I'm so much more at ease knowing they aren't in the yard and I may
get a call at any time from the animal control folks (who think Diva is
a beagle!!) Thanks and drool to all who need it!!
