Wow, Susan...your daughter Juliana is quite the hero!!! Great job!!!!!
I love Cesar Milan and his ability to put the pack dynamics in terms
that us, as mere humans, can understand. If ever we have a problem in
the house with the dogs, his strategies ALWAYS work wonders, and it
looks like she knew just what she was doing. She's a very brave girl.

On the basset puppy who steals food from the young kids in the house,
Diva used to do that to my children when they were smaller. She would
jump up and grab whatever was in their plates, knock their plates out of
their hands and gobble the food up or wait until they left the table and
climb up on top of it using one of their chairs that wasn't pushed all
the way under. Of course, she's about to turn 3 and she's much calmer
now, but it wasn't until I allowed the children to show her that they
were alpha to her, and not on the same level as she is, that she stopped
treating them like another puppy. It's hard when they are really small,
and especially when your first instinct is to run over and correct the
dog yourself, but if you can talk to the child, prepare them for how to
handle it and then let the child show the dog who is boss, you won't
have to worry about the dog doing this when you're not around or when
you have neighborhood children over and your dog only knows not to
snatch things from YOUR children. (worked for us anyway...)
