[Dailydrool] Jealousy

A research scientist has just announced that dogs are capable of feeling pride and jealousy.
Well knock me down with amazement. I'd love to meet a dog owner who thought otherwise!

Leaving that aside, I am still trying to work out what was going on with Clara yesterday.
I decided to take Rolph to the groomers for the first time. The thought of doing battle in the bath with his long hair,in the poor weather we've got at the moment just overwhelmed me.
So, I walked them both to the store, about 20 minutes away, and Rolph was left there.
Clara didn't seem at all worried he was left behind and enjoyed her walk home.
Then I went back by car to pick him up in an attempt to keep his clean, dry coat, clean and dry.
When I walked him into the house, Clara ran up to him and sniffed him, then ran back to her bed and went into a mega sulk. She didn't leave that bed for the rest of the day.
I can't decide whether she was jealous he had an adventure without her, jealous he went to the beauty parlour and she didn't, or cross he came home, because she thought she'd got Only Dog status.
She was still mad at me this morning - and isn't playing with him either, despite his best efforts.
I'm not offering a research grant, but can anyone throw any light on this?

Sally, with Rolph and Clara, UK
