[Dailydrool] ear hematoma

I need some advice please. I noticed Otter had a hematoma on the inside
of his ear Sat. night. It is located at the beginning of his ear canal
and you can't tell just by looking at the outside of his ear. It is
about the size of a quarter. It doesn't hurt him and it hasn't effected
his playing or just being himself. I had to take him to a new vet on
Monday because we just move into our new home Sat. morning, of course
this couldn't happen while we were still near our vet. I didn't get a
warm and fuzzy feeling from this woman but I am incredibly picky about
their Dr.'s but she said I had three choices, drain it but it will come
right back, leave it alone and in time it will go down but there will be
crumpling or surgery. I told her he doesn't do well with anesthetic
(she never asked why or what I meant). Does anyone have any experience
with this? I need some direction. I remember one of our previous dogs
having this and I don't believe we went the surgery route. My husband
is keeping the dogs at the new house while I finish out two weeks at
work. He is bringing the dogs back to the area this weekend so I am
going to try and get Otter seen by my vet to get her take. If surgery
is the only option we will do it but I was wondering if anything else
can help.
Sorry for the length and thanks in advance for any help,
Cheryl
