[Dailydrool] sore nails

Poor Maggie Mae!! We are sending special paw drool;

I bet what happened is that she has broken that nail. This is not uncommon
but it hurts like....all get out. When dogs come into the clinic with this
the nail is bloody and broken near the pad. We remove the broken part which
is very painful and trickier than it sounds (LOL) and then apply neo-predf
powder and a wrap.
When this is not possible then the nail will eventually fall off on it's own
as the new nail grows in,much like your toenail. Ifyou have ever slammed
your finger in the car door then you have a fair idea of what it must feel
like.

So she is NOT going let you near that paw until that nail is grown out. It
might be an ok idea to run her in and have it removed so that it will heal a
little quicker and you can cut those other nails at the same time.If you
don't want to do this, that's ok, but be sure that foot stays clean. You can
soak it or wash it off without touching it when she comes in from outside.
You don't want it do get infected.

If I had a nickel for every broken nail I could bail out the auto makers.
