I think you should offer to help your mom make a special place for her dog.  Tell her that it was important for you to make it about Popeye and you can help her honor her dog as well.  Maybe she doesn't feel that she could make such a special place on her own.  Having said that, the relationship between mothers and daughters is interesting to say the least.  Good luck!  Alison
