[Senior Basset Rescue]

I'm with Robert.  Why do you have a Basset, it is quite obvious that YOU are NOT a Basset person.  We all make choices in our lives and mine is to be connected to my Bassets as they truely are not dogs but human in many ways, but one would have to be able to let go of control issues of it just being a dog and it must do what I want as I want. My kids live in the house have a kiddie door to go in or out as they please, which isnt very often as they must either be near their human or on one of the many beds or couchs bought for them. They sleep with me or on me depending who beats the others to me.  I have 6 Bassets and a Beagle  (2) 9 and  (5) between 12 and 15 yrs old.  6 of these dogs I adopted in he last 2 years as seniors, why because I love the seniors and having done all breed rescue for most of my life until 13 years ago when I rescued my first Basset. I learned 2 things puppies are a lot of work and are not for me, and seniors are the
 best.  I have been trained to think like a basset, and have learned they are happy and love life and check out every smell around, they tell me about their day, some talk longer then others, basset have a wonderful sense of humor.  I think back and wonder what I did without a Basset for all those years and how much joy I missed in watching and living with this incredible breed.  I now will only have Bassets and spend everyday helping to rescue them and keep them safe.

So ... Why do you have a basset?  And why is this your last?  I'm guessing
you have a breed preference?
