I would suggest that you offer your mom a very special place just for her  
dog--perhaps with her dog's collar,
a nice little plaque, some flowers or a nice bush, and tell her that  because 
her dog was so special, it deserves a special place of its own.
 
I do not think you should mar your own dog's resting place--you would  
forever resent having to do that, and it would lead to more problems with your  mom.
