Steve,  I agree with what people are telling you- you will know when it is
time to let go and please choose to be there with your hound at the end.
Hold him in your arms when the time comes so that the last thing the hound
hears, smells and sees is you.  The vets office can be a frightening place
so be there at the end.  It is the last kindness we can do for our dogs.
My thoughts and prayers are with you. Most of us have been there at one time
or the other and we understand.
