[Dailydrool] basset care

Hi all,
  I'm a new member and a new basset owner of a rescued 3 yo neutered male. I'm wondering how to keep his ears out of his food and drinking water? Is there a special ear net? Or does one use a hair net?  I want to make sure I take good care of his ears, does anyone have advice? Also, I was wondering what folks are feeding their basset to keep the hound odor minimized?
