[Dailydrool] walking

I must admit I had great hopes for this thread. Every walk is either a
crushing disappointment to some hound or hounds and a major guilt trip
for me(I'm just not being FAIR to someone) or it's a logistic triumph on
the order of Hannibal crossing the Alps with his army and the elephants.
I was hoping the collected wisdom of the Drool community would have
discovered the trick. But Alas!

Diamond is a finished Champion and has just gotten an obedience title so
we are training for the next level. It'll be months before his next dog
show. Ruby is 9 months old, pointless and needs time in the ring (so do
I). In the last 2 weekends Ruby has been to 6 shows and Diamond goes
nuts on a show day when he's not going.

The very worst is if I get her into the BUV when he isn't looking and he
discovers her absence. He runs from room to room, goes outside, finds
her gone and starts to bellow at the top of his lungs (at 6 am) "How
dare you!"

It's best to let them all see the traveler depart and live with the
complaints for a few minutes. We have a lot of comings and goings.
Mutya the 13+ girl gets shortchanged on her walks which she loves. But
she needs a relatively short (distance) unhurried walk by herself.
There's never enough time for all she would like. Sunday morning as I
was walking Ruby to the BUV, Mutya saw her chance and started "booking
it" or the senior equivalent thereof towards the park. I'm thinking of 2
barriers in the house, sorta like an airlock in a spaceship. Both doors
are never open at the same time.

How about flat panel displays with movies of the other dogs? Disney
style animated statues, like the Tiki Hut? A diversion, release
squirrels in the backyard? Something?
