Thanks to everyone who slung drool in Jane's direction or mentioned her in prayer. I know it was probably a lot more folks than the ones who contacted me, and that was a fair number.

Last night our little princess came home, sans foreign object in the stomach. They managed to scope it out of her, but what the object was is still up for grabs. The docs carefully double bagged it and saved it for us. It obviously had some sort of metal in it that showed up on the X-rays, but it mostly felt like crunchy plastic. It was about the size of a large mouse, I think.

I wonder if it was one of the cat's toys, but the only toy I could think of is safe on our hutch. Duncan (the cat) does not often get to play with toys, since the dogs have to be out of range and rarely are. I only hand the toys out briefly, and quite frankly, stuffed toys are not his favorite, so they rarely see the light of day.

Otherwise, Jane must have picked the object up somewhere outside, even though she's always supervised.

We will continue to detect and try to figure out what it was, but it may always remain Jane's very expensive mystery.

Today she seems just fine, now that we got the medications for her tummy into her. She does not particularly like having one pill mixed with water and shot down her throat. I have to do this every eight hours, which should be a real howl, as she rebels against it.

We are so thankful that Jane is fine. This will be a particularly nice birthday gift for Drew, who will be celebrating more than one thing this weekend.
Pam, with Drew, food slave of the Dashing Bassets
