Help guys! My sister in law just called. Apparently, my nephew moved and abandoned his dog. He moved in with his girlfriend and she won't take the dog.
He's a pretty brown dog with deep brown eyes. I can't say what his mix is, I have pictures though. Never met him in person.
He seems like a sweetheart.
She's tried all the local animal rescue groups and most of the SPCA and Humane Societies. They won't take him and I know their philosophy that if someone cares enough for a dog to call these placed, they have good odds at a home where they are.
But I assure you, they do NOT have room for a dog.
If no one takes the dog by next Friday, either my sister-in-law will drop him off in the country for animal control, or her husband(my brother) has made a serious offer to shoot the dog to 'put him out of his misery'. My brother is 18 years older than me and does NOT like animals. I wonder if he know she could go to jail for that?

I can't take another dog myself, I have 2 senior Bassets, and one has a hip injury and the other mostly blind. I also have two small children, and it's illegal in my county about having more than 2 dogs without a kennel license.

Is there anyone who can save this dog? Knowing my nephew, I doubt this dog is neutered.

People make me sick, and it makes me more sick when it's family. My sister-in-law is an animal person, but her hands are tied.

Someone.. please.. point me in the right direction, I can't have this dog on the street. The only option is to drop him off at an animal shelter next friday.
