Nails: Boomer and Hope are on a cement pad in the dog run outside (and have a doggy house and a gravel area to go potty), so their nails are worn down from being on the cement. As they are getting bigger, I'm looking into making a larger run with hopefully a strip of lawn.

Confinement against visitors (i.e., mailman): Boomer and Hope are in a dog run along the side of the house during the day. Outside the dog run of course there is a fenced yard, which offers another layer of confinement before you get the the front of the house where the mailbox is.

Potty: Boomer and Hope have a potty area in their dog run, and at night they are crated indoors from about 10:30 or 11:00 PM to around 7:30 AM. They have been crate trained overnight since they were wee ones. At first, we couldn’t go that long and had to take them out for potty once in the middle of the night. Now they do great. Boomer and Hope get at least one walk a day, usually two. They have gotten better about waiting and actually wanting to go potty on their walks with a certain command I try and use consistently, but they do have the potty area in the run if they just need to go.

The Golden Gate Bridge Waddle is happening on July 4th. They expect over a hundred bassets there and all the red, white, and blue. Yayyy!

Boomer and Hope will be One Year Old on June 17th. Wow, the time has flown.

I appreciate reading about all the adventures, trials, and warm thoughts across the DD to each other. Believe me, I can relate to so much of it. While I am not a rescue/foster home nor do I work at such facilities (I'm just a homeowner with two basset co-resident companions)... I value the hard work you all do for the houndies in need.
Drool and snooters to all.
