[Dailydrool] Mosquitos

I just finished a 10 day retreat with a high Tibetan Lama. One of the things
he talked about was the "no killing" rule. We asked about mosquitos, and he
said that it applied to them too...darn it! Then he told a story about a
friend he was staying with for a visit and she was picking ticks off her dog
and killing them. He was concerned that she was killing the ticks, and she
told him they'd just latch on again if she didn't. Then, a few weeks later,
he said she called to tell him she wasn't killing the ticks anymore....she
was flushing them down the toilet and sending them to a "lower realm"! LOL 

So according to him, we can do things to prevent mosquitos like drain water,
but can't kill the suckers directly. I'm afraid I'm not a very good Buddhist
and have just decided to take on the bad karma that  results from setting up
my Skeeter Vac.
