Debbie, I think that talking to the owners of the pit bull would be the
right thing to do (if you can get by the pit).  But they might not listen so
be prepared to call animal control.  When it is people in your neighborhood
it is hard to know what to do but I would give a shot at talking to them
first.  At least you have given them the courtesy of making the adults in
the home aware of the situation.  Good Luck
