Hi. I am a groomer and am astonished that your groomer would call your vet  
over your basset giving her a hard time with a nail trim.  I think one  would 
be kicked out of the basset club if you didn't put up a good fight while  
receiving a nail trim. Sounds like your groomer is a bit of a diva.  I  would not 
take this to heart.  A basset who does not like his nails cut is  very normal. 
I am sure the other bassets are giving Philby "due claws up"  for his great 
accomplishment of giving this groomer the what for.
