Hi Everyone
I have a problem that I need major help with.  I have coccidiosis in my 9 week old pups and yes it is confirmed and they are starting on treatment, just waiting for the vet to call that everything is ready.
I am having a problem understanding where they contracted it from.  At 4 weeks old they were negative, per stool sample. Friday I took a sample in because one of the New Mommies called me and told me Jasper tested positive but was showing no signs......anyway  the results are in today.  Yesterday evening 2 out of 5 had diarrhea and I was really hoping it was the Heartguard...and did call the emergency vet's office....Luckily Ashley was there (she also works for our vet and is aware of everything)
The only changes that have occurred is Ruby Doo has been having play dates with her pal Indy for the last couple of weeks.  The neighbor has at least 15 cats that are rescued from the river and strays.  Ruby loves those kitty "treats" that are left behind on the ground.  Could this be how they were infected?  The big kidz have a dog door and go in and out as they please...the babies have never touched the ground.  In previous stool test all the big kidz have been negative. I am at a lossas to how this happened.  I have been sooo very careful with these babies.  I have contacted all the new mommies...and even told them I would pay for treatment...or come and get the baby.  My first concern is their health.
My vet recommended bleach water for outside...and the washable areas and to go to the Feed supply store for the stuff that will work on other areas.

Any other suggestions as to what I can do?  I don't want them re-infected.  What about food  do I change them to rice and chicken, give pumpkin????

Karen
