Droolers-
So many thanks again for the kindnesses this community has slung our
way. We've been home for about a month, and as I furnish, there's
always a Basset that finds the most comfy spot. Go figure. Piglet,
recovering from burns over 50% of her long, waddling body, has taken
over the couch.
The Vet is still so happy with Piglet OEBE's progress. Your
generosity, which took care of my dogs' vetting, eased the ability of
my vet to help others. Jimmy, the fireman first through my front door
with the fire hose shouting 'get the dogs out!' had a dog hit by a car
in April. The vet heavily discounted his fee for the surgery. One
good turn makes others possible.
Oh, there's much more DIYing left to do, but when it's done, I'll
write my Congressman to deport Bob Vila back to Havana. The DIY
channel is verboten; talking about faucets that cost more than what I
spent to redo my entire bathroom.
All the fears of that terrible Saturday night in February have been
soothed by your drool. The Waddle of the Phoenix continues, as
homeless Bassets continue to be saved here in Appalachia. My travels
this month have been to remote areas back in the wilderness. One more
appeared in last night's email, a rural shelter that I've worked with
many times before. Pulling Saturday. The trip to goes over the
mountains, windy, curvy, dog-puking Country Roads, but Interstate the
way back. No Basset dies over $4 gas.
So many of you never gained a dime from this community. All I can be
is humbly grateful, which I am.
Home with doggies. Still rescuing. You made this all possible. Drool
is hope.
Come see Piglet OEBE 5/31 at the BROOD Xtreme Ramble!
Thanks-
