[Dailydrool] Morris dancing

A Scottish country dancing friend just sent me the URL for the
Bassett Street Hounds, http://bassett-street-hounds.org/, a group of
Morris dancers in Syracuse, New York, who say the name comes from the
site of their original practice location (which explains the
spelling), they use dogwood sticks with the bark still on them, and
they sometimes howl while they dance. Their mascot, which appears in
several places on their Web site, is, of course, a basset hound
dressed in a Morris kit. Wouldn't it be even more fun if they
actually included bassets in the dances? As our Elsinore can attest,
some bassets do actually learn how to dance. Those Droolers who are
lucky enough to be living in that area can go and watch the dancers
perform, or even join the group. Their performance and practice
schedules are on their Web site.
