<<So she waits in her crate. Very simple. Very effective.

I am always amazed at those who have multiple dogs that don't use crates. They are the greatest training / peace keeping tool. All but 2 of my dogs in their crates all the time.>>

We are one of those multiple-dog households that rarely uses crates, though we have two. But at feeding time, we do separate everyone. Abner, who never counter cruises, is gated in the kitchen. Bel is in the dining or living room. Jane eats in our bedroom. Everyone is blocked off from everyone else, and we have no fights.

I used to feed everyone together, but sometimes Jane would take a fancy to someone else's food, if she was done and any was left in the other dog's bowl. Bel will sometimes go after Abner, who is lower in pack order than he.

Even though they were mostly reliable, I felt it was safer, especially for Abner, to have everyone far apart. I don't think I'd do it any other way now.

My feeling is that food aggression is fairly simple to deal with, if you do this. I wouldn't get all stressed about the situation. I'd just make sure everyone has space in which to eat. Why risk an escalating situation if you don't have to.
