[Dailydrool] Happy Birthday, oh Ancient One

Ok.  She's not a basset.  But she is a hound.  Today is Scarlett (the elder
hairy hound)'s 14th birthday.  She has lived all her life in the company of
bassets - even her breeders had a basset along with their otterhounds!
Until Tuesday graduated to status of house-senior, Scarlett was her favorite
bed-mate, especially in the winter when she would drape herself over her
warm hairy sister - and Scarlett seemed to enjoy having Tuesday as a furry
blanket.  She has slowed down over the years.  She no longer goes outside to
converse with the coyotes at 3:00 every AM - she leaves that to the young
otterhound Sister - and she shuffles up and down the kennel run rather that
leaping and bounding.  Since losing most of her hearing, she is no longer
skittish as she was as a young pup.  14 is pretty old for an otterhound. As
far as we know, she is the last remaining from her litter.  She'll get a
treat with her supper tonight.
