[Dailydrool] vacuum question

I know everyone recommends the Dyson but I dont feel like spending a fortune
(Rupert cost me $350 this morning at the vet)
Our Eureka Optima went out last week and hair is piling up. I scanned
through the archives and saw some talk about the Hoover fusion, with mostly
good feedback. Then when I started shopping online I came across the Hoover
EmPower and it consistently had higher "star" ratings then the Fusion. Has
anyone tried the EmPower? Its only $100 at Walmart but had a majority of 4
and 5 star ratings at every site I saw. I also considered the ElectroLux
after reading the archives but am kinda desperate to go make a purchase this
weekend and I think those are only sold online and thru special
vendors.....anyways, we'd appreciate any feedback on the EmPower.
