You didn't say where you live and vet's charges are highly dependent on
location. For what the vet did here in Orange County, California the
rates were not too much.

Your vet IS intent on maximizing the profit of the business though,
maybe a European vacation in his/her future? On the other hand when we
go in with non-specific symptoms and ask for a diagnosis, tests and
x-rays are called for.

As I see it you have three options:
1. get another vet
2. only bring Daisy in when you have more clear cut symptoms or more
time has passed
3. be very specific about DIAGNOSTICS ONLY until you know what you're
dealing with.

Some of your vet's measures (probiotics) rely on the placebo effect.
That works for gullible humans, not so for dogs.
