Bo and Harley are producing extra drool for Pauline and for Tammy Jo (accidents are so scary and broken bones such a painful hassle).

Happy birthday to King George and happy ahroos to King Bob, his furbrother, for feeling better.

Taylor family cat info. share:  We keep our kitty's food up on a high shelf under the window inside the house, where our cat hangs out to observe the neighborhood through the window.  Getting up there requires far too much agility for a basset but is easy for the cat via a cat tree.  We have an electric self-cleaning litter box.  The noise scares the bassets, so they stay away.  Don't know whether your new kitty would simply move out and relocate himself to a more private home or not if he had access to an open door.  We have a very high fence around our yard which neither the cat nor the hounds can scale.  So everyone stays at our home by necessity. That being said, there is a ledge about five feet high maybe six feet below the top of the fence (the fence is perhaps 12 feet high at that point since we live on a hill into which the yard is cut).  Our kitty likes to sit up on the ledge and look down on the hounds when the kitty is in the mood
for unmolested privacy.  Although it was tough at the addition of each new hound, all the menagerie gets along fine now.  I heartily recommend building in kitty "safe spots" that the cat can reach but the dogs cannot, if any of your dogs is prone to cat-chasing (as my Harley is).

Next, any more takers on my offer of doing a fabric portrait of your pet(s) for just the cost of the shadow box frame and shipping plus a $20 donation to the Basset Rescue of your choice?  I'm caught up on the orders I received first go-around.  You can see samples at http://s345.photobucket.com/albums/p391/vlbzwicl/?albumview=slideshow   I can fit up to 3 pets together in a 16" by 20" shadowbox ($40) or 1 pet face in a 12" by 12" shadowbox ($20).  Shipping from Hawaii to the mainland ranges from about $20 for the smaller box to $30 for a large box.  I am donating the fabrics, design, and my work for the benefit of homeless hounds

Finally, thanks to all who e-mailed me about routine ear care.  I have several good leads to a better regimen now, including Blue Powder ear treatment and Oticalm.  Bo and Harley seem in much better shape now thanks to the veterinary treatments, and as soon as they are well, I plan to switch preventive strategies.  Mahalo, Val, Bo, and Harley
