[Dailydrool] Bell hound questions/answers

I don't know that I am a bell hound *expert* but I can only speak from my
experiences within our pack. To me, barking and howling are noise and
baying is music. Baying has a different, more melodious tone. Within our
pack, howling frequently disintegrates into barking. Baying *never*
disintegrates into barking - it simply stops. Another way to tell the
difference between howling and baying is that when a basset hound bays, they
move their mouth into this perfect little "O" and they usually tilt their
head back. They also like to put all their noses together and raise them up
together.

Can you have a single bell hound?? I think if you have a singleton bayer,
then that dog could be a potential bell hound if he/she were in a pack; but
since it is essentially a pack position, to be a true bell hound (song
leader) there would have to be a pack. Can other breeds participate in a
pack or be a bell hound? Yep - other scent hunting breeds have bell hounds
(like blood hounds). Then of course, there are the basset wanna-be's too!
