I can't imagine being able to keep my cool in the same situation.  How unfair to Lucy to be turned out just because she is a senior.  I will keep her in my prayers and the kidz are sending her "we hope you get a new comfy home before Christmas " drool.  If I were closer I would bring her home with me.
