[Dailydrool] Petey the Chunk ATB

Hello Droolers - a few weeks ago, I posted about my parent's 18 lb chihuaha Petey (my "little brother") and his pancreatic cancer. Many of you sent me notes and I forwarded them all on to my step mom. Well, he has left us today, on his own terms, and has left a hole in our heart.... 
 
I'll miss the little guy - I  had hoped that I would see him again in November when I visit northern CA for thanksgiving..... when I was finally able to call my dad without bawling, he said Petey went the best way he could - went for walkies last night, barked at the big dogs across the street, daring them to "come over here and say that!", made it to the corner and then waited for my dad to carry him home, and then had his caramel and cream. He went back outside, sniffed the neighbor basset through the fence, patrolled the perimeter and came in and went to bed. That's where they found him this morning, on his snuggly bed next to their bed. It was the best thing that could have happened, Petey decided that it was his time and didn't put them through the agony of making a decision. My dad sounded pretty weepy today, something I've never ever heard before. He says he's going to stay away from pets for a little while because its been so hard to go
 anywhere between Petey and my grandpa who lives with them being sick..... Then he said that it would probably be at least Christmas time before Lynn, my step mom,  wears him down to get a new baby....... and everyone wonders where I get it from.!
 
Thanks again to all of you for your prayers and drool for this little dog my dad rescued literally from the jaws (or needle) of death. My step mom decided that Petey was 11 though the vet always said that he was more like 15 - and the last 9 hopefully made up for the miserable beginning he had - I know he pulled my parents through some really rough and tough times - Godspeed little brother, I'll see you again...
