[Dailydrool] new boys fighting

For the 2 puppy boys that are fighting, I have some comments.  first
of all, and most importantly, are they REALLY fighting?  or are they
just engaged in a ripsnorting brother-mouthing ear-grabbing
growling-like-someone-is-being-murdered friendly basset hound
wrestlefest??  To the unfamiliar, the 2 can look pretty much the
same.  It would be pretty unusual for puppies to actually fight, but
the noisy mouthy wrestlefests probably happen several times a day under
normal circumstances.  Wrestlefests leave no one bleeding or limping,
but occasionally leave the combatants slightly damp.  A real fight
usually does draw blood, most often from punctured or torn ears, and
leaves one or both parties fairly well coated in slobber.
Wrestlefests can be ignored, or if they get a bit too rambunctious and
start knocking over the furniture, they might benefit from a time out in
their crates, or relocating the festivities to the back yard.  A real
fight needs more drastic measures.  How old are the puppies?

If they are really fighting and are close to a year old, they may be
seriously "discussing" just who is top dog around the
house.  Ultimately, the top dog must be you, but there will evolve a
natural pecking order.  It is best to let the dogs figure out who is
the dominant boy, and then don't try to change it unless there is a
problem.  Feed Top Dog first and lower on the totem pole dog
second.  #1 gets a treat before #2, etc.  Occasionally, #1 will
decide he is also the Pack Leader, which is your job, and he will need an
attitude adjustment  - you eat supper before he does.  You go
through a door before he does (but he can still go before #2), He gets
treats when You decide to give them, not when he asks for them.  that
kind of thing to reiniforce who's the boss.

But my guess is,
you just have a couuple of ruff and tumble basset boys.
