[Dailydrool] Great "get well" gift

Lukie had his vet appt., last Wednesday and his Vet is REALLY pleased with
his progress! Lukie can walk with a limp right now, but that may go away,
and his pain is getting better. I was really still concerned because he was
having so much gas and was having a lot of the "bad drool" so I asked about
Doggie Nexium. Vet suggested some Pepcid and also suggested I try these
packets of "good" bacteria to add to his food to help out.

He wanted to see Lukie walk, so we were up on all fours and then Lukie
starts to scoot, ok we got down the hall scooting, and then I told him we
had to walk back, again he scoots, the Vetman has a real sense of humor, he
said, and what are you trying to tell me Luke? What you are telling me is
that I have to give you a rectal exam. Lukie seemed unfazed at that
comment; he had snootered up to Dr Sliker and seemed to be whispering
something privately to him. I think what may have been conveyed was, Mom
doesn't know about this, but I think you as the Vetman can help me with this
"little problem" I am having. So even though Lukie had been expressing his
anal sacks (oh that smell), and they were fine (?) when he went for his
regular exam/shots about a month and a half ago per his regular Vet, I
didn't think too much about his tummy problems being associated with the
anal sac issues. Well I guess Lukie has "deep" sacs and they were REALLY
FULL. So he gets them cleaned out and the crazy fool hound wants to run
now! And his belly is settling down so he is really perking up! He is so
much more like himself again! He has about another month of convalescence
so we have been keeping him off steps, no running, and easy with the Basset
games. He really is starting to try to egg on the other hounds to play with
him, but we have to find softer gentler ways to play for awhile.

Things in our house have been a little uncomfortable in the last few weeks;
Lukie is really coming along great with his broken pelvis, still a little
sore. And I just had some nasal surgery last week, so I have been
absolutely miserable for the last few days. The hounds are getting a little
concerned about the unhealthy family thing, first Lukie, now Mommy, they
just want life to go back to the way it was before, PLAY PLAY PLAY and throw
in eating in there.

My son, the absolute dear, who absolutely loves the Bassets even though we
got them after he moved out on his own, felt so bad for Lukie and I. got us
a "get well" present. He found this "Halloween Basset" I guess it is
available at Cracker Barrel. The cute hound is dressed as a pumpkin and
"sings" a Halloween treat song, and his ears raise and lower to the beat of
the music! Absolutely the cutest thing! With my terribly stuffed nose, I
was really giggling, hurt badly but really cheered me up! And at the end of
the song the ears flap a couple times, sooo cute!

I felt a little better today, and the hounds have not been able to get a
walk for the last couple weeks because Lukie had no way of going with them,
and he would have just carried on and on if they were getting a walk without
him, and it wasn't worth it to upset him so badly, so they have done without
their walks. His bike jogger/stroller came a few days ago when I wasn't
well at all after the surgery. Well he got to try it out, today; he cried
most of the way because he wanted to be out running with the other hounds on
the leash, not because of pain, just wants to do too much. No way, for a
few more weeks, he just has to learn to deal with the stroller. It is
really slick, rolls very smooth, and the cabin part is really good sized, so
he has lots of room to sprawl with his pillow and blankie, or it actually
could accommodate two 45-50 lb hounds healthy hounds easily. Has a leash
clip for extra security when they are in the stroller. This will be so
great when we do the waddles again, I opted for the lighter color/beige so
it wouldn't get hot inside. They get so tired after walking at the waddles,
and lie down or ride in the pooped pup wagons. And this will allow us to
have more fun with the hounds, it can be pulled by bicycle so hubby and I
can take the hounds with us when we bike ride. The full multi purpose
carrier. We will have to save up for another one since it will only
accommodate 100 lbs. But at least we have a start.

So I got my hound laugh from the get well gift, and Lukie, Flash, and Lady
Guinevere got out of the house to alleviate their cabin fever, so today
could be considered a "good day"! out of weeks of not so great days.

Hope all other Hounds in need and their loved ones will have a "good day"
soon as well. Thank you all again for your healing drool for Lukie he
continues to get better every day, so thank you all again.
