The following e-mail was forwarded to me today from North Texas Basset Hound
Rescue, Inc.  If there are any Droolers in the west Texas area who are
looking for a sweet basset hound girl to add to their family, or know of a
good rescue group in the west Texas area that could help out with this
situation, please contact the owner, Rhonda Pace, as indicated below.  NTBHR
is full, and they just don't have any volunteers in the west Texas area
anyway.  I hope a Drooler out there might be able to help out
somehow...thanks!

I live in Midland TX and I have a 3 yr old female basset, Maggie, that we
are going to have to place for adoption.  She, as with most hounds, has a
howling problem and our neighbor has called animal control twice.  The last
time animal control came out, they told us that the next time they came out
on a call, they would have to take Maggie with them. She has become an
inside dog for this reason, but she really prefers the outdoors.. I work
during the day, all the kids have gone to college, and my husband works
overseas, so I?m the only one home.. I have to keep her in a kennel inside
during the day and I don?t feel like that is being fair to her. If I keep
her outside, we start to have problems with our neighbor.  I have started
taking her to the local dog park every evening.  There she can run, bark,
and howl as much as she wants. 

Do you know of a GOOD local shelter in Midland or would you be interested in
Maggie? Please let me know if you have any other ideas.
