NEWS FLASH
It has been reported that there was a 3 dog crash that occurred during the
basset 500 in Virginia Beach, Va today. The crash occurred on the 3rd lap of
the race, Brudder Elwood was leading at the time, with Brudder Jake drafting
closely on the lead dog's tail. Sister Daisy was following in third position.
It appears all racers were not injured, but a spectator known as Elder Clara
was knocked flat. Review of the crash reports a possible low paw on the
leaders left hind rear leg. He then slammed the wall, collecting Brudder Jake,
which slammed on the brakes to try and avoid the spinning lead hound. Sister
Daisy, also unable to stop in time then rear ended Brudder Jake, and all 3 spun
into spectator Elder Clara. Elder Clara was attended to at the crash site by
Momma and is reported to be suffering from severe attitude at this time. She
is now being observed by Brudder Bob which also witnessed the crash. The 3
dogs involved in the crash are now in impound, with officials now checking the
racetrack as Brudder Elwood has stated it was wet track conditions, not a
low paw as first reported, that caused this pile up. The race has been halted
at this time, but may be restarted tomorrow pending weather conditions.
Updates on Elder Clara's attitude are also expected tomorrow.
