[Dailydrool] thoughts about spaying

I think we always worry about our babies going in for surgery.  MacKenzie was spayed when she was six months old.  She stayed overnight at the vets and we picked her up the next morning.  We were told to keep her quiet.  She wasn't supposed to run or play ball for a week.  Apparently she didn't understand that.  While we did our best to keep her "quiet", she'd have none of that.  She was back doing the Basset 500 that day.  Her stitches were barely visible and went away on their own.  I can find no scar.
It's too easy for an unspayed female to "win the affections" of some crazy unfixed male.  I'd be more worried about an unexpected litter than having her spayed.  It was a simple procedure, no complications and she's exactly the same as before she went in.  I applaud the rescue groups that ensure dogs are spayed.  Unless you plan on breeding her, spaying is the right thing to do.
