I read your Drool post and can certainly sympathize with your feelings about having your girl spayed. I have a show puppy (1 and 1/2 ,still a puppy) and to show her I cannot have her spayed. It is a stress factor every time she comes in heat because some of these girls are very hormonal so even if she has a" normal" cycle, every 6 months coming in for two weeks going out two weeks , 1 whole month consumed with blood stains and an odor of sorts. Then I have to be sure she isn't going into a" false pregnancy", which she did after her last heat and that carries on for two months, getting milk , etc. Making sure she doesn't get an infection called" Pyrometra " after her heat cycles,it is just a hassel. But, for me it is worth it since I'm showing her and expect to breed her one day, still ,it is something I would not put up with if she were only my house pet and the younger the better,by that I mean have her done now at 5 and 1/2 months and don't wait till she is older, more money as well as more risks. The operation itself is pretty simple, usually a small incision ,takes less than 20 min. Hope you can think of this in a different light now. Vickie Zehring
