Oxalate Kidney stones become bladder stones when they make it through
the kidney but not the bladder. The stones are formed by too much uric
acid in urine. For humans foods to avoid are beets, chocolate, cocoa,
figs, grits, nuts, parsley, pepper, rhubarb, spinach, tea wheat germ,
beans, beer, caviar, coffee, liver, peas, sweetbreads and wine. I'm
sure this will be easier for your hound than it is for me.

Also, before I found out I was diabetic I had lots of crystals in my
urine. This is the pre-cursor to stone formation. Once my blood sugar
was back within a normal range, the crystals disappeared.
