[Dailydrool] Two kinds of wet...

It's Mamaslave here, coming to you from NJ, current site of monsoon rains.? Lawns are Ireland green, flowers Eden-like.? My disposition?? Not so much.? 

The Dadslave and I have, if not embraced thrice or four times daily walkies for the houndage, have "adjusted" to ordering our lives around their toilet needs.? We thought we were doing fairly well...until the rains hit.? There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING stubborner (yes, this IS a word when referring to Bassets) than a Basset who does not want to go out in the rain.? Today for the first time I saw Dozer? actually scowl at me like "You're kidding, right? This rain thing is getting old."? The others may be scowling as well, but Doze, in his head down "I can back out of this Martingale collar - I know I can" mode, wrinkles nearly obscuring his mournful eyes, has scowling down pat.? 

Despite this act, out we headed - Dozer, Delilah and I, into the storm.? I've quickly become skilled in handling a tandem leash AND an umbrella, not that it was doing much good.? Dozer lifted his leg in a pee-parody; Delilah did not even bother to make the effort to at least pretend to validate the purpose for venturing outside.? After five fruitless minutes, I gave up and took myself and my charges back inside.? At least they were thoughtful enough to shake off on the porch and not in the foyer... After toweling the duo off I made lunch for the Dadslave and I.? Enroute to the table with my peenie butter and honey sandwich, I happened to glance at the floor at the end of the table where I was treated with a puddle the size of Lake Michigan!? I don't know when or how this deed was so steathily done as to escape my watchful eye; the dining area is directly adjacent to the kitchen, but it was.? So, after securing the sandwich from any countersurfing canines, I spent the next few minutes sopping up dog pee.?? Eight innocent pair of eyes observed from a safe distance...

Sigh...praying for an end to this deluge.? Would share if I could with those in need...?
